An artificial environment is home to a constantly changing thing; a body that reacts to its surroundings and transforms into an organic- mechanical, chamaeleon-like being. In her solo performance for the dancer Enrico Ticconi, the greek choreographer Kat Válastur tests the limits of the human body and its digital environment. The characteristic performer blends into his environment, his fading words echo from the walls, the dancer’s movement stutters and creates a flow of fascinating freeze frame images. Kat Válastur’s dance results in a stroboscope-like illusion of flashing sequences of movement – a fragmentation of the body, whereby each gesture, each movement of the arms, each turning of the head is split into hundreds of small individual movements.
