Hungarian Acacia

KRISTÓF KELEMEN & BENCE GYÖRGY PÁLINKÁS | Hungary | Theater & Performance

By taking a sharp-witted look at the current political situation in Hungary, Kristóf Kelemen and Bence György Pálinkás have been able to come up with a performance against populist nationalism. Their satirical documentary theatre sows the seeds for a new national icon. The members of their movement go out into the world as the gardeners of a new legend. They carry out political activities that aim to reframe the acacia as a symbol of an open society – since anybody who can take root in Hungarian soil can be Hungarian!
