PAKMAN

POST UIT HESSDALEN | Belgium | Nouveau Cirque

In the world of theatre, you sometimes come across a performance jewel that might appear unspectacular but actually has the energy to stop time. The parcel delivery van of Post Uit Hessdalen is one such jewel. Pakman will use the small truck to travel around Basel-Landschaft, stopping at primary schools and ending its tour at the festival centre.

Dressed in work clothes, a postal worker invites you to enter the cramped, small room. In a somewhat bored, matter of fact way he takes care of the parcels, stamps and stacks them up to the ceiling, while in the background the clock is ticking away. Suddenly, he appears to have had enough. Out of the blue, he suddenly picks up some juggling balls and throws them to the ground, one after the other, to the beat of time. They jump all around and fly back to him, move towards the audience and develop their own unique dynamics, as if dancing and floating through the air. After 20 minutes of utter amazement, you return to the here-and-now and leave the truck in the knowledge that you have just witnessed something magical.
