In a fantastical procession of chaos and adversity, Miet Warlop indulges her love for pleasant cruelty, the sort you only ever see in cartoons. She not only uses the entire spectrum of colours, but also balloons and volcanoes, a hailstorm of darts and flying sharks. Originally at home in visual art, the Belgian artist Miet Warlop creates her theatrical paintings without a narrative in front of the audience’s eyes. By the end of the evening the stage is an animated, living sculpture, a battlefield of yellow and green theatre blood in which a choir of head dryers rises for one last aria.
