The choreographer Antonia Baehr invited her friends to write compositions about extinct animals of their choice. Each animal represents a letter of the alphabet: S for the docile Steller’s Sea Cow, the last known specimen was killed near Bering Island in 1768; T for the Tasmanian Tiger, which refused to mate in captivity; and D for the Dodo, a beautiful but flightless bird last seen in the Indian Ocean in the 17th century. Seven stations, positioned on stage, allow Antonia Baehr to rediscover the extinct species, creating imaginary half human / half animal creatures.
The choreographer and filmmaker studied at the Hochschule der Künste Berlin with Valie Export and at the School of The Art Institute of Chicago. Abecedarium Bestiarium and Antonia Baehr have been invited to various festivals in 2014, including the Tanzplattform Deutschland in Hamburg.
