As part of a bizarre fusion of limitless corporeality and stand-up comedy, Agnés Mateus presents a solo performance of a wild feminist rampage against the male violence of patriarchy. Like a comment on #metoo, «Rebota rebota...» is a reaction to the murders of and the violence towards Spanish women over the past ten years.
With a rich vein of coarse humour, Agnés Mateus uses this production to break into a male-dominated environment and, full of rage and frustration, asserts her position on stage between grotesque costumes and sexist jokes. Disney fairy tales are disenchanted and stripped down to a basic guiding theme: born, married, died – a bitter essence of what life has in store for women. In her performance, Agnés Mateus dissects the structures of patriarchy, which still lie in all our systems. She demands that we finally address the topic of violence, shake ourselves from our indifference and call a spade a spade.
