Crash Course Chit Chat

Sanja Mitrovic | Netherlands

Five founding countries of the EU meet on a stage and settle accounts with one another: with their own stories, with their conflicts and with the whole ridiculous rest. For each country, the director from the former Yugoslavia Sanja Mitrović has a single performer present the conflicts of his or her own country on stage: Jacques Brel meets Marlene Dietrich, national history encounters personal biography, fact meets prejudice, Dutch meets Flemish. “Crash Course Chit Chat” explores the relationships between personal stories and the desire for a shared European identity and questions the fine line between patriotism and nationalism.
